1 Minute of Prayer at Ground Zero Bali


After the first Bali Bombing on 12 October 2002 in Kuta , a permanent Memorial Monument, Ground Zero Monument was built on the site of destroyed pub in Legian street. This Memorial Monument was made on the second anniversary of the Bali bombing on 12 October 2004. It is made on an intricately carved stone set with a large marble plaque with names and the nationalities of the Bali bombing victims. There are 202 death victims from 24 countries in this bombing tragedy. The monument is well maintained and illuminated at night.

The dedication of the Memorial Monument included a Balinese Hindu ceremony and gave an opportunity for people to lay flowers and other offerings. The ceremony was attended by the Indonesian officials and the Australian ambassador as most of the victims were Australian. Many tourists and visitors come to Bali to visit this Memorial Monument in Legian. Some of the families of the victims visit this monument regularly to give prayer for their family and other victims. Other visitors and tourist from all over the world also come and pray for the victims of the Bali bombing, some people also lay flower at the monument to show their respect and condolences for the victims.
